ST MARY'S
Audience members were treated to a surprise, visual feast as they entered through the gates of this cross-shaped, Anglo Saxon church. From the heights of the ceiling a dramatic sculptural light piece by Jono Retallick (part of a larger works known as Supernature) greeted people at the doorway.
Following the works around the back of the stage area, thousands of luminated feathers and red candlelight arranged by artist Mary Branson graced the floor.
The art displayed specifically, for this night only, created the magical and atmospheric setting for the performance. Throughout the gig both audience and artist were surrounded in a wash of colour and light.
Wilderthorn was joined by drums and James Underwood of Iskra String Quartet on violin. Support came from Martha Paton.
A big thank you goes out to all the local hands in Guildford who worked behind the scenes to enable us to perform in this space. This was our first Secret Gig where we ventured beyond London and we were so grateful for the welcome and support we received.
